Is this a good bike to buy? Any recommendations?

You don't want a cheap bike and a cheap full suspension bike like that is the worst. You want a good hard tail bike that came from a bike shop. A hybrid would be a much better bike for the city mountain bikes are no good on hard pavement. The shocks and tires make them very uncomfortable to ride on streets..
