Are standard mtb brakepads the same as hybrid rim brake pads?

i need to replace brake pads on my bike, but the rims are slightly bigger than standard mtb rims. Can I fit pads suitable for a mtb? the rims are 700cc hybrid rims, bigger than mtb rims, and with a Tektro V brake system. Links to cheap and suitable purchases (in uk) welcome if u can. :)
