Which bike gear ratio is easier to pedal with?

I'm going to Ray's MTB in Milwaukee this coming Friday, but I'm stuck with a hard decision; rent the Trek Mullet or the Trek Ticket. But what my real question is, which gearing ratio is easiest to pedal with? The Ticket's gear ratio is 36/18 and the Mullet's is 34/17. I was mainly going to ride on the XC section, but planned to take a few whips around the park, but I would prefer the lower gear ratio. Also, is one bike better than the other? If so, I'd take that one first. Thanks for your time.
