I have a 100mm travel fork on my mtb now. Can i install a 140mm travel on it?

My bike is a Diamondback recoil. Current fork is a Suntour XCT V2 100mm travel. Hate the fork. Can i change to a fork of a further travel? For example the 120mm or the 140mm travel?
