Should I read The Importance of Being Earnest, and The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde for my term paper?

I get to choose within a limited list of authors and Oscar Wilde caught my eye (a little familiar with his works). I have to use this author to compare/contrast these pieces for a term paper with style, theme, characterization, etc, etc in the term paper...good idea? (I've watched the movie 'Dorian Gray' but I read reviews of how it complete failure with depicting the novel but It still seemed like an interesting story)
